Josh grew up sailing the shores of the Great Lakes. His experience includes cruising and racing, ownership of mid-size C&C Yachts, and chartering monohulls and catamarans in the Caribbean. After earning his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering he became a Captain in the United States Air Force, serving eight years as a special operations navigator with eight combat deployments.
During his later years in the Air Force, he began his maritime career on a part-time basis. This included operating a successful internet based marine supply business. During his early years in yacht brokerage, he built an impressive and diverse group of listings of power and sailing yachts and cultivated a loyal client base.
After completing his time in the Air Force Josh moved to Florida to pursue his true passion; a full-time career in yacht sales. He is currently a licensed and bonded Florida yacht broker at David Walters Yachts. Josh blends his professionalism, sailing experience, and focus on his client's needs to help both buyers and sellers navigate the waters of the boating market. Further aft to port is a guest cabin with a twin that can convert to a double berth. There is a 3rd upper bunk over a fitted tall chest of drawers. Plenty of storage space under the twins and a deck hatch for light and ventilation.
With dedicated access from the passageway, the head is nicely finished with Corian counters, stainless sink, teak trim, and a freshwater flush electric toilet with transfer valve to convert to salt water and additional storage outboard. There is a separate shower stall with bench seat.
Located aft with a fully opening swing up window on gas rams creating an uninterrupted
social space and serving hatch to the cockpit when open. To starboard is a spacious pull out pantry and vitrifrigo refrigerator drawers. Opposite to port is a fully-equipped galley that is open at the same level as the main saloon and helm windshield for a light and airy feel.
The helm station has a “love seat” for helm and passenger – all covered with UltraLeather. A very desirable but rare feature is the sliding oversized helm window with teak step to make docking and access forward very convenient. The Hylas M44 sleeps two in a spacious private forward cabin with centerline queen. The convertible guest cabin sleeps one, two or three and two in the main salon. Interior cabinetry is all handcrafted teak, finished with matt varnish and featuring solid trim. Push lock latches on drawers and lockers. Interior ceilings are upholstered white giving bright and spacious feel complimenting the white ultra-leather seating. The cabin sole is matt-varnished teak. Oceanair screen/blinds for all overhead hatches.
The main saloon offers a central, high-visibility panoramic viewing area for lounging and operating the boat in any weather condition. To port is a u-shaped settee, covered in white Ultraleather,a beautiful high/low saloon table with holly inlay. To starboard is a settee with pull out cushions creating space as a sea-berth. The aft bulkhead has a 24” flat screen TV. Additional drawers and lockers throughout including custom bar storage under helm station. Side and rear windows are also opening, along with two opening top deck sun hatches, to offer exceptional light and ventilation. This area can also be closed up and cooled/heated efficiently when desired, thanks to the reverse-cycle air conditioning. Valance lighting and numerous lamps create a warm ambiance at night.
The owner’s cabin forward features a centerline queen berth, positioned low
for easy access from either side. Generous storage includes a cedar-lined hanging locker, linen locker and numerous soft closing drawers on runners. Space for a flat screen TV is on the starboard bulkhead for easy viewing from the berth.Access to bowthruster and battery is under the queen bunk. A deck hatch and four opening portholes provide plenty of light and air. Bookshelves and reading lights port and starboard. Double USB and AC sockets port and starboard.
