Erik Haaland

Erik has been involved in the marine industry for over a decade. He started his brokerage career with Martin Bird & Associates in Annapolis in 2014. Prior to that he was a successful Store Manager with West Marine, winning many top accolades including multiple District Store of the Year awards. Erik was born in New York where he learned to sail at a young age on the Hudson River. In the mid-1990's his family moved to Annapolis, where his fondness of the Chesapeake grew by being involved in sailboat racing, fishing, and other water related activities.

To further is career as a yacht broker Erik attended continuing education training and was granted certification as a Certified Professional Yacht Broker in 2017. His drive to ensure his clients needs are met is paramount. Erik believes that his job is never done with any client, and that the personal assistance he provides clients, some years after they make their purchase, is what sets him apart from other brokers in the industry. Erik is known to be very personable and easily explains different vessels and their systems, making it a pleasant experience for both buyers and sellers as they not only get to know their boat better, but understand how to remedy issues along the way. He has a wide breath of yacht sales experience, from blue water yachts to center console fishing boats, picnic boats, sport fishers, racing sailboats, trawlers and motor yachts.

Rosalita is a turn key, ready to race or cruise J/109. The Rod Johnstone designed J/109 fits into that perfect niche of size and capability. 35' LOA with amenities for couples cruising or for the race crew. Thought by many to be one of the best designs J/Boats has ever built the J/109 can be fitted to her owners sailing needs easily. A canvas dodger, overlapping genoa or jib that can be furled, retractable sprit for spinnakers, excellent stability and a quick hull form. Her sailplan can be easily managed by two people thanks to a well laid out cockpit and all controls led aft. The J/109 is offshore sailing capable and Rosalita has excelled in this area.

In 2017 she participated in the bi-annual Annapolis to Newport Race where Rosalita took 1st Place in PHRF 2. In 2018 they placed 1st in PHRF B for the 69th Down the Bay Race. Rosalita also took part in the J/109 One Design Class at the 2015 and 2017 Block Island Race Weeks. The 2015 and 2016 Governors Cup turned up a 1st and 2nd Place trophy respectively in PHRF A2. Rosalita took 2nd Place in the 2015 J/109 NE Championships.

The hull gleams on this J/109! She just received a full detail for the season. Being a SCRIMP resin infused built J/Boat of this era she does have the normally seen gelcoat crazing on the transom and hull sides along the waterline and some on deck. The hull is built with Baltek Contourkore end grained balsa plus vinylester resins to protect against hull blisters. The internal structure is bonded to the hull and deck and bulkheads are tabbed to the hull and deck to increase stiffness.
