The Cambria 44 was featured in marine author/surveyor, Fernec Mate's, The World's Best Sailboats. Part of Mate's closing comments about the design and construction were "you will be delivered a yacht of excellent design & engineering, not inexpensive but then the Cambria quality is among the world's best". David Walters, designer and builder of the Cambria, created a contemporary performance cruising design that offers all the important elements: strength, custom interior finish, spacious 2 cabin, 2 head, interior arrangement, comfortable deep aft offshore cockpit, excellent performance, classic contemporary styling and shallow draft.

Windward Star  offers a very complete list of quality systems and equipment including oversized self-tailing winches, holding plate engine and dockside refrigeration, auto pilot, and offshore electronic package. All interior woodwork is hand rubbed varnished teak with a satin finish. A fully removable teak and inlaid sole is provided in all cabins. There are two companionway entrances, one amidship providing entry into the salon and second companionway directly from the cockpit into the owner's cabin.
