Accommodations

Construction & Hull Details

Like all Hylases of this era, "Mersoleil's" hull is solid hand-laid fiberglass, reinforced with Twaron aramid fiber.  Twaron is a Kevlar-like fabric and is bulletproof, adding immense strength to the hull in case of an impact. No core at all in the hull.  Fiberglass layup using vinylester resins and an isophthalic gelcoat for blister resistance.  Deck is constructed with coring material for stiffness, with solid laminate where deck fittings are installed and other areas of high stress.

"Mersoleil" is powered by a 75hp Yanmar 4JH4-TE with cockpit controls and a complete alarm system.  In 2015, she received a new engine, due to an insurance claim with a contractor who had done work on the engine.  Current engine hours are approximately 3290.  She cruises at 7.5 kts under engine alone, with a maximum of 8.5 kts.
