Artemis, star of the 6-part Chasing the Dream video series, a cruise and race ready Italia 13.98, will be on display at the Annapolis Sailboat Show
Artemis (Name Reserved) is one of the finest performance cruisers in the world under 50'. She is the award winning Italia 13.98, 2013 European Yacht of the Year Winner, 2016 SAIL Magazine Boat of the Year Winner, and 2016 Cruising World Best Performance Cruiser Winner. The 13.98 was designed to be not only a luxury performance cruiser but also the best built design in her category; rivaling custom racing yachts in design, materials, construction and workmanship. Italia Yachts are regularly dubbed the Maserati of the seas, impeccable design, build, and sexy looks to create a moving experience. When an Italia Yacht passes by everyone stops to stare.

The design is by Maurizio Cossutti, one of the best people in the realm of performance yachts, whose designs have repeatedly placed in ORC World Championship competition. A rigorous study utilizing VPP, CFD, and ORC tools ensured that the design was sound. Those studies continue to this day for every new build and at the requests of existing owners to ensure their Italia Yachts are at the top of their game. Materials utilized are the best available, including a PVC foam hull and deck with a carbon fiber structural grid and framing. A performance lead T-keel with steel frame and faired GRP fin covers for best ballast placement and hydrodynamic flow. A high aspect single rudder is placed deeper and further forward than many other designs to allow for the best performance and helm control. All construction is performed in house by Italia Yachts to ensure the best quality product is produced and delivered to the customer. Every Italia Yacht is custom built for her owner, and Artemis was no exception.

The seller, an accomplished professional sailor, former sail maker and rigger, wanted the best available yacht to pursue their dreams of double-handed racing, full crewed offshore racing, and family cruising. Working closely with the designers, shipyard team, and personal oversight of the build he ensured that the 13.98 would meet his expectations. Artemis was commissioned in the Fall of 2019 and was displayed to the public during that years United States Sailboat Show.

In the Summer of 2021 Artemis competed in the Annapolis to Newport Race, taking 3rd Place in ORC 2, beating popular designs including Farr 40's, XP-44's, Beneteau First 50 and several others. The 13.98 is easily capable of double digit speed and is equally at home with a full crew or can be sailed by one person. Upwind the design is like a missile, easily pointing higher and faster than competing designs that have several feet more water line and pure racing thoroughbreds. Docking is a breeze thanks to her foil design and ease of control, so much so that she does not require a bow thruster for maneuverability (although a retractable thruster can be installed at request). She handles with the likes of a dinghy, light on her feet and immediately reacts to helm and engine controls. Sailing comfort is impeccable in open ocean conditions thanks to her stiff construction and workmanship, so much so that while sailing the interior is one of the quietest you will experience except dockside.

Her experienced owners outfitted Artemis to follow their dreams of fast, family cruising and competition in offshore distance races. As such Artemis was fitted to high specifications with virtually every available option. In addition she has been constantly maintained and includes an exhaustive list of post commissioning upgrades. Artemis is the best equipped 13.98 built to date.
Artemis is turn key and fitted with the latest in race B&G electronics including just added twin Nemesis 9 touchscreen mast displays. Her extensive sail plan was designed by an international team at Quantum Sails both in the US and in Italy to provide the best performance and experience, this includes a complete set of racing sails and a separate set of carbon fiber cruising sails. No expense has been spared and Artemis is available at a significant discount from the construction costs and outfitting the owners have invested. Thanks to her owners upkeep and extensive experience Artemis is in like new condition for her next owner.

Compare the Italia 13.98 to any competitor in its category and you find that the 13.98 stands tall in every facet. If you are looking to cruise south for the winter, compete in the Caribbean 600, or Newport to Bermuda next year, this is the boat for you.
