Interior Accommodations

Starting forward the guest head is finished in white Formica with teak trim, stainless steel sink, hot and cold pressure water, telephone type shower and Jabsco Quiet Flush electric head. The opening hatch overhead includes a Nicro-Fico solar vent. A teak door leads aft to the forward cabin.  This very comfortable forward cabin has teak access doors both forward and aft. There’s a large offset double berth to starboard and a single berth to port with significant storage below both bunks. There are two overhead opening hatches that afford great ventilation and natural light. To starboard and forward of the double berth is a large hanging locker with double doors. To port a cedar lined locker with shelves at the forward end of the single berth. Both lockers have storage above. In addition there are three large storage lockers outboard on the port and starboard sides.

Aft from the forward stateroom through the varnished teak door is the main salon with a huge dinette with extendable table that seats 8 or more. The main bulkhead has beautiful stainless lamps, a stainless clock and barometer. The off white Ultra-suede fabric-covered dinette cushions  make  for a neutral appearance.  Outboard starboard are teak bookshelves, a storage locker and liquor locker. 

The large walk-through galley is aft to starboard with white laminate counter tops. To port aft of the settee is a forward facing navigation station with a swivel arm seat, full instrumentation, and a large chart table.

Moving aft on the port side of the vessel and through a door is the head for the aft cabin finished in white Formica, outboard of the vanity and above the head are storage lockers. There is a Jabsco Quiet Flush Electric head with Electrosan waste treatment system. The separate stall shower with seat includes storage locker under and outboard of the seat. 

The main entrance to the full-width master stateroom is aft of the galley. There is a large centerline double berth with a custom Ultimate memory foam/latex mattress.  Storage lockers with bookshelves are port and starboard. The cabin sides and cabinetry are all gloss varnish. Outboard and to starboard are two large hanging lockers.  The aft bulkhead has a  beveled mirror. On the starboard side of the berth is an L-shaped seat and behind and below is more storage.

Hull and Deck

CONSTRUCTION

Sirius is a British built center cockpit ocean cruising sloop with shoal draft keel, hydraulic retractable keel/centerboard and a skeg hung rudder. Whisper Grey Interlux hull(2002), Interlux white decks (2015) and house. Three coats of Black Trinidad SR bottom paint 2016, red shear stripes. Hull has stiffeners per Lloyds recommendations. Fiberglass hull, decks, and low profile coach roofs have core in places for extra strength where needed. Stainless exterior grab rails.

DECK EQUIPMENT

Fiberglass nonskid deck repainted with Awlgrip 2015. Anodized aluminum toe rail. Stainless handrails.    Aft of the double stainless bow roller is the below deck windlass with  chain locker.  Tigress manual/electric windlass with up and down switches on both the foredeck and the cockpit, new 2014. Aft of the windlass is a very large sail/storage accessed by a large Lewmar deck hatch. Two large aft lazarette hatches one for Propane the other contains the Phasor 4.5 KW generator, 29 hours, 2015. Large center cockpit with teak seats and teak cockpit sole replaced in 2001.

Pedestal steering with stainless wheel, Weems & Plath compass, single engine controls, and autopilot with remote.  SIRIUS has a Superwind feathering prop wind generator (2015) and three Kyracera 140 watt solar panels (2014/2015)

Sails and Rigging

Great equipment for running short handed with control lines led aft. Selden mast stepped on deck. Double spreader rig with mechanical vang and separate preventer. Stainless steel 1 x 19 standing rigging with Norseman mechanical fittings all replaced 2001 (deck toggles replaced 2013). Furlex head stay furling. Harken Battcar mainsail with Stack Pac and lazy jacks replaced in 2014. Separate staysail track. Mast is rigged with 2 jib halyards, 2 main halyards (primary led aft), spinnaker halyard (led aft), staysail halyard. There is also a custom stainless bowsprit for the asymmetrical cruising spinnaker. A hydraulic tensioned inner forestay is fitted for use with staysail or storm sail. Running backstays are fitted. Sirius has a custom tall rig, which provides excellent sailing performance even in light air.
