Mechanical systems aboard Slow Dancing are superb - Lewmar Mamba torque tube steering system with solid linkage from the pedestal to the steering quadrant ensures a responsive helm, high capacity stainless steel water and fuel tanks offer the capability for long distance passagemaking, and access to the engine and generator is outstanding from all sides. Upgraded at the factory, Slow Dancing is equipped with a 100HP 4-cylinder turbo diesel with only 2,200 hours! A substantial improvement from the standard 75HP. All mechanicals were installed at the factory to the highest quality of workmanship.

Slow Dancing boasts three well sized staterooms. A full beam v-berth forward with ensuite access to the day head, a single berth guest cabin forward to port, and a roomy master stateroom with a queen centerline berth and private head with separate stall shower and second passageway leading to the main salon. All staterooms feature cedar lined hanging lockers and finished cabinetry with louvered doors, and all the desirable comforts. MAIN SALON
Bright and full of natural light, the spacious main salon with it’s raised bamboo cabin sole is warm and welcoming and offers spectacular views through the large panoramic fixed side and forward windows. To starboard is a full length settee which slides out an additional 9 inches to expand to a comfortable sea berth complete with lee cloth. To starboard is a custom two-way folding dinette table with a solid teak base and wine rack storage. In it’s most compact configuration it’s the perfect cocktail size for entertaining, expand the leafs, and you a comfortable dining table with seating for six with a large settee and double bench seat. Softgoods are upholstered in tan Ultraleather which is both attractive and easy to care for. Outboard cabinetry and shelving, storage behind the settees, as well as a custom locker integrated into the teak mast wrap offers an incredible amount of storage space. Headroom is a generous 6’ 7”. Natural ventilation through two large opening deck hatches with teak trimmed screens and opening portlights are welcomed on those warm tropical evenings but when needed, the reverse cycle climate control is a desirable feature.

The ensuite aft head is beautifully finished with Wahlee Stone vanity, sink, and flooring with white trim to coordinate with the laminate wall surfaces. A full-length dressing mirror is located on the doorway. Storage is bountiful with a cabinet below the sink and a sizeable linen closet outboard. The separate stand up shower has excellent headroom, a Lexan glass door, and a second passageway to the main salon.

FORWARD STATEROOM
The only complaint you’ll have about the forward stateroom is your guests will be so comfortable you’ll have a hard time getting them to disembark. This wonderfully inviting cabin with ensuite access to the forward head has a full beam custom inner spring v-berth mattress which is 6’ 9” in length, the width of a king size bed at the aft end, and incredibly comfortable. Teak cabinetry with removeable shelving and hanging lockers lined with cedar were customized for added depth and improved volume. Additional storage is accessed under the berth via a hydraulically assisted lift. A large overhead hatch with teak trimmed fold down screen provides natural ventilation. Zoned climate control with independent digital control is shared with the port guest cabin.

GUEST CABIN
Aft and to port is the second guest cabin with single berth complete with lee cloth. Ideal for storage or the occasional guest, this cabin is a desirable and versatile space with plentiful cabinetry, cedar lined hanging locker, and additional storage under the berth accessed via a hydraulically assisted lift and cabinet door. An overhead teak trimmed hatch with drop down screen and opening portlight provide ventilation and climate control is shared with the forward cabin. GALLEY
Slow Dancing features a galley that is smartly laid out and functional with over 7 feet of Wahlee Stone surface and inboard island style countertop aft of the companionway.Designed for practicality at sea the galley is safe and functional underway on either tack. The top and front loading refrigerator and freezer include dual seals and heavy insulation and were designed with a flush surface to ensure easy cleanup and seamless aesthetics. The Frigoboat system operates off 12VDC and incorporates efficient keel coolers. The three burner LPG Force 10 stove with oven has a Wahlee Stone insert for added prep surface when in place or offers a stainless steel backsplash when stowed behind the stove. Ample cabinets, storage lockers, and drawers are located outboard and below the countertop.

NAVIGATION STATION
Aft and to port of the main salon is the outward facing navigation station with custom bi-fold hinged desktop and swing out seat with Ultraleather upholstery. The instrument and electrical panels, with lighted displays, have fast-pin hinges allow easy access to the exceptionally well organized and carefully labeled wiring. All instruments and wiring are labeled inside and out and traced numerically at each end. Slow Dancing has been recently outfitted with the latest Raymarine eS series multifunction displays at both the helm and navigation station. These units are WiFi and Bluetooth compatible and fully integrated with the ships systems. There is a bank of drawers and full size file cabinet inboard and below the chart table.

The Hylas 49 is a well proven and extremely capable blue water cruiser. Slow Dancing is fast, sea-kind, and strong. Constructed with hand laid up fiberglass laminates set with vinylester resins and isophthalic gelcoat for superior protection from osmosis and blistering. Eight longitudinal stringers are tied to each frame and bulkhead. The result, is a stiff and seamless monolithic structure in excess of ABS standards. The encapsulated lead keel and low ballast provides a low center of gravity for high stability and is fastened with solid 35mm stainless steel keel bolts with transverse mounted 8mm backing plates. The forward hull section is well shaped for rough seas and well-reviewed for its excellent abilities in heavy weather without pounding. The distance between rudder and keel is measured by design to provide excellent directional stability and balance. The rudderpost has full structural support running through hull to deck. For added safety and protection from hard grounding, the rudder skeg is 2 inches higher than the low point of the keel.

Characterized by wide side decks, high stanchions, and equipped with the desirable option to bring the pushpit stainless steel rail the full length to the mid-ship gates, Slow Dancing is a boat aboard which the crew will feel safe and secure. The deck is laid up with a sandwich core construction with end grain balsa core. Solid laminate is utilized in all areas of the deck for fittings and high stress areas. Chemically and mechanically fastened with 5200 epoxy and through-bolted every 5 inches with backing plates, the Hylas 49 is known for its superior strength and solid construction. The surface is molded non-skid.
