Construction Sitala Yachts builder of the Nauticat 515 takes pride in the strength of their hulls that are solid fiberglass construction. The skeg mounted rudder has a robust solid stainless steel rudder post. This boat is built to take the demands of the ocean. She is built solidly like real boats are built with a grid of longitudinal stringers and latitudinal stringers to form a monolithic grid. Of course the bulkheads and structural elements are tabbed in and bonded to the hull sides and the deck to further stiffen and reinforce the structure.. The fiberglass decks are of molded sandwich construction with teak overlay that is the best nonskid you can ever have. Personally, I love the deck handrail that is literally like a ship! It is a Nauticat signature element and once you lay your hands on it, you are hooked. The solid teak handrail mounted on robust stainless steel stanchions higher than most boats. It is a wonderful secure feeling to walk around on a Nauticat. In fact everything about the boat is sort of overbuilt. But, overbuilt for what. When you sail in the ocean, you really cannot say what overbuilt it. She is built for what the ocean will throw at her and you’ll be glad of that. The hardware on deck is chosen with large working loads in mind. "A little bigger is better" clarifies the philosophy regarding deck gear. Aft of the cockpit is a very large, almost stand up height, full beam aft deck lazarette. In the Aft Lazarette is the fitting for filling Dive Tanks. The compressor is located under the Master Stateroom bed. All through hull fittings have bronze seacocks. Custom dinghy davits made from 6061 aluminum with reinforcing in stress areas with manual Anderson winches which are mounted on the davits for dinghy lifting. Two Kyocera Solar panels are mounted, out of the way on the dinghy davits provide additional power to battery banks. The dinghy motor is lifted aboard with a block and tackle with a Kato Marine stainless steel lift arm. A outboard motor mounting is installed on the handrail near the motor lift arm.
Cockpit Details: The center cockpit provides wonderful visibility and security. It is also very comfortable with the new dodger and bimini built by Beaver Brand Canvas in Fort Lauderdale in 2015.It’s lovely light gray Sunbrella to match the sail's sun covers,
GROUND TACKLE: Pretty amazing anchor platform with lovely bow seat and two magnificent anchor rollers. There is a deck opening anchor locker that has the anchor wash down in it. Lofrans Titan windlass with a hand held controller for up and down. The windlass has a break that allows for quick anchor deployment bypassing the electric controller.
