Testimonials

Erik was excellent to work with. From our first conversation throughout the process to close, Erik was available, conscientious, and knowledgeable. He couldn't have been more helpful in answering my questions and bringing resources to the table. Erik followed up appropriately throughout the process, and beyond the transfer of ownership. I feel like I made a friend along the way and would look to Erik first when selling my existing boat or purchasing the next one. He is definitely service and detail oriented, striving to meet or exceed customer expectations.

Erik made the process seamless.

Erik ran a US Sale and International Purchase and shipping that was second to none. He created relationships with everyone involved in the process so they felt compelled to make it all work!

Knowledgeable, friendly, welling to search for options to close a deal, follows up after sale, true true profesional.

- Oscar Valdes - Buyer of 2020 Italia Yachts 9.98

Extremely knowledgeable and trustworthy. It was clear from the beginning that Erik had done His research not only on the vessels we were exploring but also on the needs of our family and how we would use the boat. I wouldn’t want to work with any other broker.

- Prescott Nicholas - Buyer of Tiara 35

I was most impressed by his always responding promptly. But more fundamentally, he listened and went the extra mile to ensure that our needs were being met. He understood the obstacles we as buyers faced. He was genuine and direct in his communications. I felt that he did a great job supporting and balancing the needs of the boat, the sellers, and the buyers. I just hope that at the time we must conclude our sailing adventures that Erik is still there at David Walters Yachts.

- Mark Hoefnagel - Buyer of Hylas 54

Erik is exceptionally knowledgeable and really know the boat well. He maintained excellent communication through the process, made somewhat challenging by COVID-19. It was a pleasure to deal with Erik and I'll certainly go straight back to him for any future sailboat transactions. I also dealt with Diane Ilg and Amanda Noon who were both pleasant and efficient.

- Russell Hill - Buyer of Bristol 38.8 "Serendipity"

Erik was very knowledgeable and objective about the issues related to selling our boat. From our first exposure to him, he identified needs in a very professional manner and maintained that manner throughout the relationship. His advice was always spot on and he was very communicative and supportive. He did an excellent job.

- Jeff Sherwood seller of Hylas 54 "Sirius"

Erik was extremely responsive, courteous and professional! His knowledge of the market, pricing and what to expect was exceptional and his advice was priceless!! Would highly recommend and use Erik again and again!

- Mike Firetti- Seller of Jeanneau NC 895

They are what I like to call "go getters" and get the job done.

- Margaret Gwaltney- Seller of Celestial 50 "Merdeka"

Erik Haaland was the selling broker for the boat I was interested in, I came in as a buyer without a broker. Erik was completely honest and straightforward, and EXTREMELY hardworking throughout my dealings with him. The listed boat had a few physical issues to work through, and I likely would not have made the purchase if it weren't for the hours of work that Erik put in to dealing with those issues.

- James Chase- Buyer of Celestial 50

Erik Haaland is the reason I purchased and sold through David Walters. Erik is fantastic.

- Dailey Tipton- Seller of Farr 30 "Blofish"

Erik Haaland is a straight shooter. Advised me on all Farr 30's available and had knowledge of these boats. He helped my surveyor and also did the winterizing of the boat's motor as it is coming to MN. I would recommend him and use him again.

- George Johns - Buyer of Farr 30 Blowfish

"Erik Haaland was great to work with. He drove hundreds of miles to show me many sail boats, and was happy to do so. Thanks again Erik!"

- William Greene Buyer of Beneteau 41

"Erik is a great broker, very knowledgeable and helpful."

- Elizabeth Beyer Seller of Camano Trawler 31

"Erik goes out of his way to understand what you are looking for in a boat and then finds the best fit. In my case, I was buying my first powerboat after many years of owning cruising sailboats. His support in helping me assess the boat, the survey, and the sea trial was just the right balance of being there for consultation and assessment. He works in your interest and doesn't just try to close the deal for his own benefit. He's a great partner and I would highly recommend him for your search."

With the new model, Italia Yachts expands its range upwards. The hull will be tapered and designed to have a slender and elegant line. Sleek and sexy, enough to charm you while sailing. Those who choose an Italia Yacht expect something more in terms of performance, and this project will not betray that expectation. The most demanding owners, while cruising or racing in the most competitive regattas, will admire the essence of the new model.

The hull is technologically advanced with the highest levels of fiber lamination, and other advance features thanks to the close collaboration with B&G, Volvo, and Allspar. The construction itself involves the most advanced research centers in the infusion lamination sector. IY 20.98 aims to be a 'green boat' in terms of reduced consumption and efficiency. The yacht is offered with a lifting keel for navigation on different waters around the world. Brilliant performance in light winds is pure fun while helming the IY 20.98 thanks to the new sail plan, while the geometry of the hull guarantees advanced stability and absolute safety in case of high winds and rough seas. His designs are in a league of their own. They are quick, safe, easy to handle, easy to maintain, and durable. These hallmarks have created a legendary, almost cult like following. His yachts are designed from his personal experience of what it is to cruise around the world. They are built for the experienced sailor that is looking for literally, the ultimate world cruising yacht.

No two of his yachts are the same, while some may share the basic characteristics of his design work; different builders were involved over the years and each hull was custom made for her owner.

The Deerfoot 63 was the last design in the Deerfoot line. It was one of the first designs made utilizing 3D CAD programming and VPP (velocity prediction program). Only a few were made. This particular Deerfoot 63 was originally built for a racer from the Great Lakes that was looking for a quick cruising yacht. She features a deeper 8' draft, and a taller mast than her sisterships, plus an extended sugar scoop transom.

Salthouse Brothers in Auckland, New Zealand, one of the worlds pre-eminent custom yacht builders, took on the job of building this Deerfoot 63 under the watch of Kelly Archer. This was a special build, as she took on much of the interior attributes of the follow on Sundeer line, but completed to an even higher level by Salthouse. On her maiden delivery she ran from Auckland to Panama, a 4,000 mile trip, averaging 200 miles a day.

The design, an evolution on the Deerfoot 62, was ahead of its time and holds many of today's common features. The owner's suite is forward, pullman style, with a private ensuite. A large, open saloon with galley and spacious nav station. Two aft staterooms and a day head includes washer/dryer. The engine room is located under the cockpit and is quite spacious. A step down transom with sugar scoop to aid boarding of the dinghy and transfer of supplies.

Originally known as 'HOT SPUR' she arrived in Detroit in 1990 before being sold to her second owner in 1992 and moving to New Orleans. In 1997 she was renamed 'ASTRA' and moved to Chicago with her third owner before cruising the Med and the Caribbean In 2007 she cruised Greece and Turkey until her fifth and current owner took possession in 2010 and moving her to California.

The current owners have twice circumnavigated, first on their Hans Christian 41 in the mid-2000's, and then again aboard 'KAILANI' with their daughter. In addition to being an accomplished sailor, the owner holds a 100 Ton USCG Masters license and is a US Sailing Cruising and CoNav instructor with over 100,000 miles on the water.

You will find that 'KAILANI' is in exceptional condition for her age and sailing portfolio. This world cruising yacht has benefitted from a comprehensive maintenance schedule with regular updates and replacements of equipment. Make no mistake, this is as good as can be bought for a circumnavigating sailing yacht.
[empty string] [empty string] [empty string] [empty string] [empty string] 1B84241A-98D6-E6AC-13A6AEE4A7F14A49 [empty string] [empty string] [empty string] 3025 [empty string]

You may have heard of some of them, such as the custom Bob Perry designed Perry 55 'Stealth Chicken' and the Santa Cruz 50 'Chicken Little'. They definitely stood out, and of them all 'Free Range Chicken' stood out the most.
Another Bob Perry design, this custom one-off was commissioned by the seller to be a comfortable blue water cruiser capable of circumnavigation while also being competitive in ocean distance racing. She was built by Westerly Marine, a California firm famous for building high quality racing and performance cruising yachts. In-fact Free Range Chicken was the third yacht built for the seller by Westerly following the Santa Cruz 50 and Perry 55.

Free Range Chicken was designed by Perry, with the insistence of the seller, to be 'man-sized'. The interior is voluminous and is a raised saloon with large windows. In particular the seller wanted the windows to be at a height that he could easily see the world from inside. The hard dodger provides excellent visibility and protection and is fitted with a removable three sided enclosure. The decks are not cluttered by excess gear and there are plenty of handholds and protection to move about while underway. The storage is massive thanks for a large sail locker that doubles are a crew cabin and a full beam lazerrette under cockpit. The Perry 59 feels like a much larger yacht thanks to Perry's design.

All of the equipment fitted was of the highest quality and spec. Northern Lights 11.5kW Generator, Newport Spectra water maker, leisure furl boom and cutter rig, twin helms for redundancy, back up rudder stored in the lazerette, huge forward and aft storage lockers with water tight bulkheads, and a complete workshop.
Construction was made from the best materials available, overbuilt is the word. The hull was made in a sandwich of pre-preg epoxy e-glass laminate with an Airex foam core with an outer layer of Kevlar/E-glass hybrid and was vacuum bagged. The hull was then oven-cured under vacuum at 160F. The hull structural grid was reinforced with carbon fiber. This created an extra stiff and strong design, built to withstand the oceans punishment while distributing all rig and foil loads through the entire structure.

The deck was built in a female mold using a combination of biaxial cloth with unidirectional E-glass reinforcements. The deck is foam cored, except at load points, where end-grain balsa is used. The bulkheads were foam cored, with E-glass reinforcements, and then vaccuum-bagged. A cherry veneer was laid on 3-millimeter plywood and epoxied to the bulkheads.
The keel was built as one would expect, for maximum performance and cruising ability, she draws 8' 6' and the keel was built with a cast iron fin and lead bulb. The rigging is attached to connection points in the deck which are attached to the structure of the boat by carbon-fiber strapping, no traditional chain plates to ever leak. Thanks to the hard dodger there is ample room to install solar panels on the roof if desired, and davits could be installed on the transom as well.

Inside you will find a completely finished cruising yacht, with an very spacious saloon, galley and nav station. Forward a nicely appointed master stateroom with centerline queen berth, and aft a second cabin with double berth. The master stateroom features an ensuite head and separate shower compartment. Four zone air conditioning with reverse cycle heat for maximum comfort, as well the master stateroom has a DC powered heating system for use without needing to run the generator. The saloon has two drop down dinettes to form berths and a workstation. In the port aft of the yacht is a well equipped work room with storage for tools and a bench. Easy access to the mechanical room for much of the major systems aboard. To the aft of this room is the interior access to the lazerette through a hatch in the bulkhead.

Combining Bob Perry, Westerly Marine, the sellers vision, and the best materials and equipment available has created an incredible cruising machine. Please explore the full specifications and detailed walk-through video for more information. It is without a doubt that the first buyer that steps aboard this incredible piece of art and machinery will make her theirs.
[empty string] [empty string] [empty string] [empty string] [empty string] BC358899-F9E5-EFB2-4BDA9899EA93228A [empty string] [empty string] [empty string] 1946 [empty string]

The cockpit is designed for single-handed sailing, with all controls easily reached from the helm. Inside, the generous beam and hull design lead to an interior that feels like a much larger yacht, providing exceptional living and storage space. Ideal for shallow waters, she features a deep, efficient centerboard that increases draft to 11?-4? when lowered.

Built in 1988 and commissioned in 1989 BLUE STAR has only had two owners, the first for 15 years and the current owners for the past 17. Her second owner has kept her maintained by the same boat yard, the same engineer, and the same varnish / cosmetics expertise. She's never been chartered, and is kept in her own private slip in Oxford, MD on the Chesapeake Bay when in season. BLUE STAR has cruised the US East Coast and the Caribbean, and when not cruising south she has been kept protected by her full canvas winter cover.

Below decks BLUE STAR's layout is especially focused on safety and offshore blue water sailing. Each cabin has a full cedar-lined hanging locker, several drawers, large lockers, opening ports, opening hatches and fans over each berth. Winter and summer custom fitted coverlets and sheets and monogrammed towels are available for each cabin. Two sets of fitted coverlets for each berth; one cream colored and the other a rich patterned winter coverlet, fitted sheets. monogrammed linens include towels, pillows, shams (with a monogram of Blue Star's design), napkins, glasses, stationery, and more.

Paramount Pictures selected BLUE STAR to be featured as the sail boat in 'Bristol' condition for its movie, 'Failure to Launch' starring Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew McConaughey. This selection was made after the Governor's office for Tourism referred their call to several boat yards and much competition from visited yachts resulted in BLUE STAR's selection. This selection speaks to the pristine condition of the yacht. BLUE STAR's role resulted in signed logs by Sarah and Matthew; one extra, transparent Bimini; and one set of new 'blue' cockpit cushions (desire of the Director, but in the end BLUE STAR's white cushions were chosen).

Please see the refit details in the Full Specifications

Key Points

Perfected Gel Coat and re-painted Blue Star top sides (Awlgrip Flag Blue), Boot Stripe (Cloud White), replaced as original-Gold foil name (red outlined) on stern, coach roof (Oyster White), non-skid (Moon Dust). This project is the result of the synergic work between the modern design and hydrodynamic research and simulations with data analysis entrusted to a pool of professionals. In few words: a hull with sleek and elusive lines, to always guarantee the best passage on the wave, safe and powerful.

The deck plan is practical and functional and the hull lines of IY 12.98 have a correct balance between comfort and performance, borrowing the fluid-dynamic concepts of the multi-winning IY 9.98 Fuoriserie for the distribution of volumes, while maintaining the characteristics of the interiors in absolute cruising style. The thrusts at the stern and bow are more evident than the other models of the shipyard. The smaller wetted surface is an all-round benefit of performance in light wind conditions. The shapes of the boat favor a variable waterline length: contained with little wind, it dynamically stretches with increasing speed and the heel. The aspects related to comfort in navigation are very accurate, to mitigate pitching.
The deck plan includes a teak deck and a layout optimized for cruising. So that navigation is easy and comfortable for a family or a smaller crew, without compromising on speed or feeling at the helm.

In the interiors of the IY 12.98 the leitmotif is ecology, nature, respect for the environment: wicker, cotton and linen fibers interpreted with technological and innovative solutions to create an elegant environment, without weighing down the boat.
