The last Freedom 45 built, NAMASTE, was the pinnacle of engineering excellence for this classic yacht. All of the previous interior designs were considered and re-engineered for an exacting client who had owned larger yachts and was familiar with the latest systems and design updates. So her layout, especially in the galley interface to the salon, is slightly different. The second, current owner, enjoyed the many fruits of that great exercise.
With two private cabins and two en-suites, heads, the aft head having a stall shower her interior is large and very comfortable. She sleeps six, four in private staterooms and two in the main salon.
Varnished Cherry Interior with many custom features, including an integral drip rail below the opening ports, elegantly following the sheer-line of the deck plan. Stainless Steel opening ports with tempered glass. Three levels of lighting, including night lighting and indirect lighting.
FORWARD STATEROOM
From the bow, and just aft of the fo'c's'le, the forward stateroom has a very comfortable V-berth with impressive headroom above the berth. There is private access to the forward head/shower, drawers, dressers to port and starboard with multiple drawers. Storage is excellent by any standards. There is also Excellent Ventilation via 3 opening ports and a large opening deck hatch.
FORWARD HEAD
The forward head is next aft and to starboard, and this head functions also as a day head for those guests not staying the night, or otherwise uninvited. There is a pocket door between the head and the forward stateroom and another door to the salon. The shower is in the head. Deck hatch, opening port for ventilation.
SALON
Moving aft is the spacious main salon. There is an entertainment center on the port side at the forward end of the bench seating, containing a TV/DVD. A commodious dining table is on the centerline with additional L-shaped settee seating to starboard. The dining table folds out to an enormous size, great for entertaining 7 to 8 for dinner, enjoying a rainy day card game, or, as many Freedom 45 owners discover, being the round table of the flagship where all congregate.
NOTE: A great advantage of having fuel and water tankage below the cabin sole is that the entire area of entire settee dimensions is free to be used as easily accessible storage. In many shallow bilged yachts, which this is not, the salon, typically middle of the vessel, is an ideal spot for heavy things. As water weighs in at around 8 pounds per gallon, it is heavy, and not easily carried in the ends of the ship where the polar moments of inertia cause heavy stuff to become a liability, i.e., pitching and other nasty characteristics.
GALLEY
Aft to port is a U-shaped galley with a Force 10 three-burner stove, single deep stainless steel sink with integral stainless steel drain board on the centerline of the boat and microwave oven. The refrigeration system has very large Grunnert Hold over plates using a utectic plate solution--in English, this means superb efficiency, super cold system.
Further, opposite the galley and aft of the nav station is a large deep freezer.
Award-winning to say the least.
NAV STATION
On the starboard side, opposite the galley, is the navigation station with a very nice chart desk, a large amount of storage and a swivel chair.
The navigation area contains a second VHF radio and repeater instruments for the Autopilot units at the helm.
Moving aft in the passage, on the outboard side is a hanging locker, while on the centerline you will find access to the generator and Yanmar main engine. Above the Yanmar engine access are the controls for the generator and the large AC/DC ship's electrical panel. There is a clever pull-out tray for the refrigeration compressor and condenser, allowing for very easy servicing.
The spacious passageway leads to the aft stateroom.
AFT CABIN
Further aft is the private owner's stateroom with a centerline Queen berth, private head with separate stall shower. This stateroom has multiple drawers, a hanging locker, a make-up vanity and even a full-length mirror. The aft stateroom has multiple opening ports and a large 24x24 opening hatch on deck. There are two optional opening ports in the transom, very nice for viewing aft above the berth, and a multitude of opening ports, some 5 total in the cabin and a rather large deck hatch.
Spacious, U-shaped galley features Corian brand counters with integral Corian sink cabinets and drawers for ample storage. A large stainless steel sink with a stainless washboard is arranged on the centerline.
