DREAM TEAM — A Leopard 50 Outfitted by Bluewater Cruisers, for Bluewater Cruisers
Dream Team is a 2020/2021 Leopard 50, built by Robertson & Caine on their proven production platform — but equipped and outfitted by her owners, an experienced cruising couple with over 30 years of offshore sailing between them. This is their fourth catamaran, and every upgrade and system choice reflects hands-on knowledge gained from extensive bluewater cruising, not a factory options list.
From the outset, the focus was reliability, self-sufficiency, and ease of maintenance. Onboard systems were selected and configured to be as simple, robust, and service-friendly as possible, so that repairs and maintenance can be carried out virtually anywhere in the world.
Particular attention was paid to the electrical system, which was designed with redundancy in mind. Close to 1,750W of solar and a bank of six 12V/220Ah Victron gel deep-cycle batteries back up twin Victron MultiPlus 3000W/120A inverter-chargers, so essential equipment — including the water maker, washing machine, dive compressor, and other major consumers — can keep running even if the generator goes down. The inverter system is fitted with an override/bypass switch, allowing power to be drawn directly from the generator should an inverter fail, adding a further layer of security for long-distance cruising.
The Echotech 1300-AML-3S water maker was specifically chosen for its robust design and simple manual operation. Its straightforward construction allows easy servicing and repairs, making it well suited to extended offshore passages and remote cruising destinations.
Practicality and efficiency also guided other design decisions. A swim/dinghy platform was deliberately omitted to avoid unnecessary weight aft, reduce maintenance requirements, and preserve the yacht's sailing performance — the tender instead lives on davits with an electric warp winch.
The propulsion system reflects the same philosophy. The twin naturally aspirated Yanmar 4JH57 engines were chosen over turbocharged alternatives, favoring simplicity, reliability, and ease of maintenance — a proven setup that offers greater peace of mind when cruising far from service facilities.
Throughout her ownership, Dream Team has been meticulously maintained and continuously upgraded, with engines and saildrives serviced as recently as May 2026. Prior to delivery to her new owner, the underwater hull will receive fresh antifouling paint and the topsides will be professionally polished, ensuring the vessel is presented in excellent technical and cosmetic condition.
This is a thoughtfully equipped, ocean-proven cruising catamaran whose specification reflects decades of real-world sailing experience. For buyers seeking a dependable, self-sufficient, and easily maintained yacht capable of serious long-distance cruising, Dream Team represents an exceptional opportunity.
