2014 Leopard 48 “La Vida Shred”

    ------------------------
Extensively Upgraded  |  Off-Grid Ready  |  US Imported

Formerly called SV Exodus, we buddy-boated with her previous owners for nearly three years. When it came time for them to sell, we introduced Exodus to her next family, who have sailed her as La Vida Shred since May 2024. We’ve shared anchorages, passages, and thousands of nautical miles alongside her. Incredible memories and an incredible boat!

Shred has all the upgrades and features a liveaboard family wants in a modern cruising catamaran. This isn’t a project boat…she’s a dialed, off-grid platform with total energy independance that starts with the fully upgraded electrical system. She has the sustained comforts of a watermaker, wash machine, and fully electric galley. She has the all weather protection of a newly fitted full cockpit and helm enclosure.

The best boats are the ones that have been actively lived on and continually maintained, and Shred is exactly that. Tons of spares, backups, and redundancies. Shred is conveniently located on a dock one hour from the Savannah, GA Airport and ready to be viewed! Sellers are motivated to find Shred’s next family and will consider all reasonable offers.

    Exterior & Deck

The Leopard 48 has earned a reputation as one of the best-balanced cruising catamarans ever built. She combines excellent sailing performance with the spacious accommodations Leopards are known for, making her equally capable of crossing oceans and serving as a comfortable full-time home.

Having sailed thousands of miles alongside this exact boat, we can confidently say she performs. Her long waterline and efficient flared hull design allow her to sail remarkably well for a production cruising catamaran, while the protected helm, expansive cockpit, wide side decks, and signature forward cockpit make moving around the boat comfortable whether underway or at anchor. The forward cockpit is one of Leopard’s most loved features, creating a shaded outdoor lounge with direct access from the salon that’s perfect for enjoying the breeze at anchor or keeping watch underway. The unsung hero of her design is the front door…not just for access to the forward cockpit but for the incredible amount of breeze that comes through to cool the saloon AND the aft cockpit. We’ve been on many Leopards with their signature front door and we always leave saying, “Did you feel how much air was moving through the front door!?”

The full helm and cockpit enclosure (new in 2025) significantly expands the boat’s usable living space, providing excellent protection from sun, rain, wind, and cooler temperatures while underway or at anchor. Whether you’re enjoying your morning coffee, entertaining friends, or making an overnight passage, it’s one of those upgrades you’ll appreciate every single day. This is a boat that truly excels at both passagemaking and liveaboard comfort.

    Salon & Galley

The salon aboard Shred feels bright, open, and incredibly functional. Large windows provide excellent visibility while the oversized U-shaped settee creates a natural gathering place for meals, movie nights, or relaxing after a day on the water.

The custom remodeled all-electric galley is one of our favorite features onboard. Beautiful stone countertops, a glass tile backsplash, residential-style pull-down faucet, oversized double sink with drying basin, recently replaced fridges/freezer, induction cooktop, electric oven, and hidden storage beneath the hydraulic lift countertop make this space feel far more like a modern home than a typical boat galley. Cooking with induction also keeps heat out of the cabin while making full use of the boat’s robust solar and lithium electrical system.

    Accommodations & Comfort

Shred features the family-ready four-cabin, four-head layout, offering exceptional flexibility whether you’re cruising as a family, hosting guests, or working remotely from the boat. The starboard forward cabin has been thoughtfully reconfigured with a shortened berth to create a multipurpose liveaboard space. It provides convenient access to the Splendide washer, additional storage, room for a Dometic chest-style refrigerator/freezer, and still offers a berth large enough for a child with a built-in couch. The berth can even be extended to approximately 5 feet when needed. It’s a clever use of space that can easily adapt to whatever Shred’s next family needs. Another bonus of Shred’s layout is she has a crew cabin w/mattress in the port forepeak with an access door in the port forward bedroom. This could easily be used for another person or guest quarter.

One thing we especially appreciate is how many separate living spaces Leopard designed into the 48. Between the enormous aft cockpit, spacious salon, shaded forward cockpit, and four private cabins, everyone has a place to gather—or escape for a little quiet time. Three 16,000 BTU Dometic reverse-cycle air conditioning units keep the interior comfortable whether you’re escaping the summer heat or taking the chill off on cooler evenings. When you live aboard full-time, having both multiple living spaces and reliable climate control makes all the difference. Bonus…3 of the cabins already have smart TV’s securely installed!

    Engines & Mechanical

One glance at the engines and generator, and you know the story. Both engine rooms are clean, dry, and free of corrosion…the ultimate sign of how well a vessel has been cared for over the years. This is an owner-loved cruising boat, not a neglected vessel with years of deferred maintenance. Oil and filters have been changed every 200 hours (50 hours sooner than Yanmar recommends), and routine service has always been performed proactively rather than reactively.

Another big bonus aboard Shred is her engine and saildrive package. She’s powered by the tried-and-true Yanmar 4JH5E 54HP engines, widely respected throughout the cruising community for their reliability, fuel efficiency, and straightforward maintenance. These engines are known to routinely deliver many thousands of hours when properly maintained, and unlike many newer common-rail engines, they’re mechanically simpler with fewer electronic systems to troubleshoot…something many long-term cruisers appreciate when they’re far from Yanmar support.

Just as importantly, the engines are paired with the upgraded Yanmar SD60 saildrives. The SD60 was designed as the successor to the SD50 and features a redesigned multi-disc clutch along with several internal improvements over the previous generation. For many buyers, the SD60 is considered the more desirable saildrive because it addressed the well-known wear issues associated with the cone clutch on the earlier SD50 design. It’s one less upgrade and high maintenance item for the next owner to think about!

The Northern Lights 9kW generator has approximately 3,700 hours and has been maintained to the same high standards as the engines. Its relatively low hours are a testament to the upgraded electrical system. The combination of solar, lithium, and inverter power dramatically reduces dependence on the generator, transforming it from an essential piece of equipment into a smart layer of redundancy.

    Off-Grid Electrical System
This vessel is fully off-grid capable, powered by a top-tier suite of Victron hardware and industry-leading components throughout. She’s equipped with 2160W of solar feeding a powerful 1200Ah lithium battery bank. Occasional shortfalls in solar on cloudy days are quickly made up for using the powerful and reliable Northern Lights 9kW generator.

At the core of the system is a powerful 3kW Xantrex Inverter, giving you seamless power to all onboard systems. The entire boat has been wired to run exclusively off the inverter if desired, including the air conditioning, washer, SeaWater Pro 40GPH watermaker, water heater, induction cooktop, electric oven, and more. For many cruising situations, shore power becomes a convenience rather than a necessity. You’ll notice the genset hours are extremely low for the year as a result of this high producing power plant.

    Electronics & Instruments
The Raymarine suite of electronics was completely upgraded in 2022 and includes dual Axiom multifunction displays at the helm for excellent visibility while underway. The current owner likes to have the radar showing on one screen while the charts are running on the other. Whether you’re coastal cruising or planning offshore passages, Shred is equipped with the modern navigation electronics you’d expect on a serious cruising boat. (Full list of instruments in the spec list)

    Sails & Rigging
Sailing performance is one of Shred’s standout qualities, and her sail inventory reflects that. The mainsail and genoa were replaced in 2022, all running rigging was renewed in 2024, and a new main halyard was installed in 2025. The current sail inventory is in excellent condition with crisp shape, no noticeable stretch, and no bellies…ready to be enjoyed from day one.

One thing Leopard absolutely got right is the sail handling. All of the primary running rigging is led aft to the helm, allowing you to hoist, reef, trim, and lower sails from one protected location. Whether you’re sailing short-handed or with family aboard, being able to manage the sails without leaving the helm is one of those features you’ll appreciate every time the weather starts to build.

Shred also comes equipped with an Oxley Levante downwind sail, making light-air and downwind passages far more enjoyable while reducing the need to motor. Regarding the standing rigging, the current owner was informed by the previous owner that, when Shred was retired from crewed charter service in 2021, her original standing rigging was replaced using the rigging from a 2017 Leopard 48 that the charter company had removed from service. While this information has not been independently verified, the rigging has performed well throughout the current ownership and presents in good working condition. As with any cruising yacht, we encourage buyers to make their own assessment of the rigging as part of their normal due diligence.

    Dinghy & Outboard

Included is a Highfield CL360 RIB with console powered by a Yamaha 25HP outboard…an ideal combination for exploring, provisioning, adventuring, or getting ashore quickly. Recent upgrades include a new propeller, new Racor fuel filter assembly, and custom dinghy chaps.

    Overall Condition
Shred presents exceptionally well and reflects the care she’s received throughout her life. The hulls, decks, gelcoat, deck hardware, and rigging hardware are all in excellent condition overall. As with any properly used cruising yacht, you’ll find some normal cosmetic signs of ownership, but gelcoat crazing and surface stress cracks are very minimal compared to what we'd expect for this age.

Inside, the cabinetry, flooring, upholstery, and living spaces are all in very good condition and create a bright, clean feel throughout the boat. One of the first things we noticed when stepping aboard was simply how well she presents. She’s a great example of how well these boats can age when they’ve been consistently cared for.

If we were being picky, we’d say the aft cockpit cushions are beginning to show their age and could eventually be replaced to freshen up the cockpit. They remain fully functional with no rips or tears, but they do show some weathering and discoloration from time in the tropical sun. Beyond that, you'll see that Shred shows just as as she's presented in the photos...beautiful and incredibly well cared for!

    Showing Location & Broker Details
