    DESCRIPTION:

This privately owned, never chartered 2005 Yapluka 72 is a serious, French-built aluminum sailing catamaran designed and proven for true offshore passage-making. Yapluka built only a handful of these 72s, and opportunities to own one rarely come to market — for the buyer who wants a genuinely rare blue-water yacht rather than another production catamaran, this is that chance.

With multiple transatlantic and transpacific crossings, repeated runs from New York to the Caribbean, seven Panama Canal transits, and voyages from the BVI to San Francisco already logged, she has demonstrated her capability to go anywhere in the world — safely and comfortably.

At 22.45m (73.7') LOA with an 11.37m beam, she offers the volume and stability catamaran explorers seek, paired with a carbon mast and boom that reduce weight aloft for a smoother, more comfortable motion at sea. Her aluminum hull, collision bulkheads, and simple, reliable Yanmar diesel engines mean she can be serviced virtually anywhere in the world without dependence on computer diagnostics — a major advantage for long-range voyaging. Custom high quality French joinery is in fantastic condition creating comfortable high quality accommodations to this very capable sailing vessel.

The vessel has been continuously and professionally maintained, with engines and generators serviced to manufacturer specifications and systems properly pickled during layup periods. An extensive spare parts inventory — covering pumps, filters, alternators, windlass and starter motors, and A/C and watermaker components — is included, giving a new owner real peace of mind for extended cruising far from major service centers.

This boat was commissioned and the construction overseen by this owner and his professional crew. The very experienced Captain and mate have been in charge on the vessel since the design stage and throughout the entire sailing life of the boat.

This is a proven blue water passage-maker with the comfort and systems for luxury cruising, offered with low ongoing maintenance demands.

    Accommodation

The expansive flybridge: serves as a command station for this Yapluka 72 and puts sail control right at the helm for shorthanded or short-crew sailing. Elevated above the deck, it offers commanding sight-lines for docking, anchoring, and navigating tight anchorages. It has a full Isinglass enclosure for comfortable outdoor living in all conditions. There's a U-shaped seating area with large table and more seating to the side of the helm. It's an extremely practical, functional space that reflects the boat's overall philosophy: serious sailing capability paired with genuine comfort underway.

The Cockpit: features a large U-shaped navy cushioned settee wraps around a substantial oval table, easily seating a full group for alfresco dining. With teak decking underfoot, a built-in cooler, and stairs leading straight up to the flybridge, this space naturally becomes the hub for everything from morning coffee to sundowners — with effortless indoor-outdoor flow into the salon, whether through the passthrough bar or just a few steps through the door. Three gas bottles are stored in the cockpit locker, with gas switches located at the propane locker and in the galley itself for safe, convenient control.

The Salon: Warm wood joinery wraps the entire space, from the curved overhead paneling to the cabinetry below — a clear showcase of the custom French craftsmanship this model is known for. A generous L-shaped settee in cream leather surrounds a marble-topped coffee table, creating a proper lounge area. There is a flatscreen TV opposite comfortable navy armchairs and ottomans for movie nights or downtime at anchor.  At the navigation desk and helm station, two additional comfortable chairs offer a practical spot for keeping watch or attending to ship's business without stepping away from the social area. A granite-topped wet bar with bar stools completes the space, with glass designed to slide open to create a passthrough — seamlessly connecting the cockpit and interior into one continuous social space.

Cabins: The Yapluka 72 sleeps in comfort across 6 cabins and 5 heads, including a dedicated crew cabin located forward to starboard — ideal for owners who cruise with professional crew or extra guests. All 5 showers are en-suite, and hot water is available via engine and shore/generator sources. Electric Headhunter toilets are fitted throughout, and sump pumps operate automatically for worry-free bilge management.

Galley: The galley aboard this Yapluka 72 is built for serious offshore cooking and full-time liveaboard use. A 4-burner American Range FRG30 oven anchors the cooking space, backed up by an over-the-range microwave/convection oven for quick meals underway. Cold storage is generous, with a Samsung fridge and freezer (11 cubic feet each), keeping provisions well-stocked for extended passages. A dual sink set into granite countertops gives plenty of workspace for meal prep, while a Manitowoc ice maker and a dishwasher add a touch of everyday luxury. Countertops are granite throughout.

    Sails & Rigging

The Yapluka 72 carries a full offshore sail inventory: genoa, staysail, mainsail, and storm jib (the storm jib, from 2005, has never been used). The mainsail was replaced in 2023, with the genoa and staysail both dating to 2020 — all reported in used but good condition. A stack pack was added in 2024.

Standing rigging was surveyed in June 2021, with the forestay and inner forestay rod replaced at that time; Kevlar caps and lowers are scheduled for replacement in November 2026, giving the next owner a clear rigging maintenance roadmap.

The carbon mast and boom reduce weight aloft, contributing to a more comfortable motion at sea compared to conventional rigs.

    Electrical, Power & Plumbing

    ELECTRICAL:

The Yapluka 72 runs on a 12/24V DC and 220/110V AC system, supported by dual generators for robust power generation offshore. The primary generator is a 25kW Northern Lights unit (10,690 hours, soundproofed with enclosure), backed by a secondary 12kW Northern Lights generator (2,678 hours, also enclosed). A Magnum MS 4024U inverter (4,000 watt, 24V/110V) provides power flexibility when at anchor without running the generators.

House power is stored across 24 Mastervolt house batteries (2V / 2 x 600Ah configuration), controlled by a Mastervolt battery controller and charged via an 80 amp-hour Mastervolt charger (24V/220V input, roughly 10 years old). Engine starting is handled by dedicated Exide batteries (12V, 1000 CCA, two per engine) — recently replaced and in new condition. The alternator setup has been upgraded from stock.

Shore power capability is included with shore cables for dockside connection.

    • 25kW Northern Lights generator (enclosed/soundproofed) (220v/60Hz)
    • 12kW Northern Lights generator (enclosed) (220v/60Hz)
    • Magnum MS 4024U inverter (4,000W, 24V/110V)
    • 24 x Mastervolt house batteries (2V/600Ah)
    • Mastervolt battery controller

    • Exide starting batteries (12V, 1000CCA, x2 per engine)
    • Upgraded alternators
    • Shore power inlet
    • Shore power cables

    PLUMBING / WATER SYSTEMS:

Water systems aboard are built for extended self-sufficiency, anchored by a Daily/Seatech AquaMate Modular watermaker (220V, 50 GPH), serviced and with membranes replaced in October 2020, and currently pickled for storage. Fresh water capacity totals 578 gallons across two tanks (1,095 liters each), while holding tank capacity totals 169 gallons across two tanks.

Hot water is supplied through dual sources (typically engine heat exchanger and generator/shore power, per Yapluka 72 standard configuration), ensuring consistent hot water availability whether underway or at anchor. All 5 heads are fitted with electric Headhunter toilets, and each of the 5 showers is en-suite for guest and owner privacy and convenience.

Bilge management is handled through a combination of automatic sump pumps and both manual and electric bilge pumps, providing redundant protection against water intrusion — an important safety feature for a serious offshore-capable vessel.

    • Daily/Seatech AquaMate Modular watermaker (220V, 50 GPH)
    • 2 x water tanks (1,095L each)
    • 2 x holding tanks
    • Auto sump pumps
    • Manual bilge pump
    • Electric bilge pump
    • 5 en-suite showers

    Climate Control:

    • 2 x 24,000 BTU chillers
    • 1 x 36,000 BTU chiller (salon)
    • Chilled water A/C system
    Engines & Mechanical

The Yapluka 72 is powered by twin 2018 Yanmar 4LHA-STP diesel inboard engines, rated at 240hp each. Port engine hours stand at 22,286, with the starboard engine at 22,639 — consistent, well-matched hours across both engines. Traditional diesel powerplants were a deliberate choice for this vessel, allowing service and repair virtually anywhere in the world without reliance on computer diagnostics — a key advantage for serious offshore passage-making.

Drivetrain: Power is transmitted through ZF V-drive transmissions and 50mm shafts to fixed 3-blade propellers. Saildrives are not applicable to this configuration (inboard/shaft drive setup).

Maintenance: The engines follow a service interval of every 250 hours, with primary and secondary fuel filtration supported by an electric feed pump for reliability. The engine service history is professionally maintained, with ongoing maintenance and servicing performed as required — consistent with the vessel's broader reputation for continuous, professional upkeep.

Charging: An upgraded alternator setup supports the vessel's substantial house battery bank and electrical demands.

Overall, this is a straightforward, robust, and serviceable mechanical package — twin proven Yanmar diesels with conventional shaft drives, well-suited to an offshore cruising catamaran.

    • 2 x Yanmar 4LHA-STP diesel engines (240hp each)
    • ZF V-drive transmissions
    • 50mm shafts
    • Fixed 3-blade propellers
    • Primary/secondary fuel filters with electric feed pump
    Additional Information

    Tender: A 2012 Nautica 15 Deluxe dinghy (15', Hull ID PTJ15082K012) is included, powered by a 70hp Yamaha F70LA outboard (2012).

Life-Saving Equipment: The vessel carries two Plastimo 6-man offshore liferafts, both checked and serviced as of June 2026. All safety equipment — including the EPIRB — is offshore certified and in-date, giving buyers confidence in the vessel's readiness for extended bluewater passages.

Bottom Paint: Applied in April 2025.

Spare Parts Inventory: A notably extensive spares package is included, covering pumps for all onboard systems, filters, an A/C chiller, watermaker seawater and glycol circulation pumps, alternators, a windlass motor, and starter motors — essentially the critical spares needed to keep the vessel self-sufficient on a long-distance passage.

Construction Notes: The hull is aluminum with a catamaran configuration, featuring collision bulkheads and custom French joinery — reinforcing the vessel's serious offshore pedigree. The carbon mast and boom reduce weight aloft, contributing to a more comfortable motion at sea compared to conventional rigs.
