KAFOFO is a 2009 Royal Cape Majestic 530 sailing catamaran built by Royal Cape Catamarans in South Africa. Her 53-foot platform combines substantial interior volume, a five-stateroom/five-head arrangement, generous bridge-deck living spaces, and an extensive cruising systems package designed to support comfortable time aboard.
One of KAFOFO’s most notable features is her accommodation plan. The port hull incorporates the owner’s forward accommodations with a dedicated office/study, an owner’s head with tub, and an additional aft guest stateroom. The starboard hull provides three additional guest staterooms and three heads, bringing the vessel to five private staterooms and five freshwater-flush Tecma heads overall. This arrangement provides considerable flexibility for family, guests, or crew while maintaining separation between sleeping areas and the main social spaces.
The bridge-deck saloon is bright and open, with large surrounding windows, generous seating and dining space, and direct connection to the covered aft cockpit through a sliding glass door. The galley is located to port and includes a three-burner Ecotouch electric cooktop, Breville oven, Isotherm 12V refrigeration, Fisher & Paykel dishwasher drawer, stainless-steel sink, under-sink water filtration, and abundant cabinetry. A Splendide washer/dryer adds further convenience for extended cruising.
The covered aft cockpit functions as another major living area aboard. Molded seating surrounds the dining space, with storage incorporated throughout. A Dometic chest freezer, Dometic cockpit refrigerator, and Raritan Icerette icemaker support outdoor entertaining, while an HD projector and dedicated projector screen transform the cockpit into an outdoor theater for family movie nights and evening entertainment at anchor. Roll-up clear panels and sun screening allow the cockpit to be adapted to changing conditions.
Navigation equipment is centered around a 16-inch Raymarine Axiom multifunction display with GPS/chartplotter/sounder and AIS. Additional electronics include Raymarine closed-array radar, Raymarine autopilot, Raymarine i70 wind/depth/speed instrumentation, Vesper VHF equipment, Standard Horizon VHF, and HyDrive hydraulic steering.
Auxiliary propulsion is provided by twin Volvo D2-75F four-cylinder diesels rated at 75 HP each, driving Volvo 150S-C saildrives with 2.19:1 reduction ratios. Fuel capacity is approximately 312 gallons in two aluminum tanks. Freshwater capacity is approximately 390 gallons, with two Quick 40-liter water heaters and a Rainman reverse-osmosis watermaker.
Interior climate control is provided by three systems totaling approximately 39,000 BTU:
- Dometic 18,000 BTU
- Dometic 12,000 BTU
- Webasto FCF 9,000 BTU
KAFOFO’s electrical system is particularly substantial. She incorporates both 12V and 48V DC systems, lithium battery storage, a Victron Quattro 48V/10,000W inverter/charger, Mass Combi inverter/charger, Victron charging equipment, Cerbo GX monitoring, solar generation, wind generation, shore power, and a 20 kW Northern Lights diesel generator.
A major electrical upgrade completed in 2024 included eight 550W bifacial solar panels providing approximately 4.4 kW of total solar capacity. An Eclectic Energy wind generator provides an additional renewable charging source.
Sailing equipment includes a deck-stepped aluminum double-spreader fractional rig, Ullman full-batten Dacron mainsail with five full battens and three reef points, Ullman 120% Dacron roller-furling headsail, Admiral R45 furling system, and Lewmar electric winches. A dedicated aloft rigging inspection was completed in June 2024.
Ground tackle is well suited to a large cruising catamaran and includes a 40 kg Rocna primary anchor, 25 kg Rocna secondary anchor, approximately 200 feet of 10 mm stainless-steel chain, catamaran anchor/mooring bridle, and Lofrans 12V electric windlass. There is no additional nylon rode in the primary chain arrangement.
At the stern, twin sugarscoops provide convenient access to the water and tender. A welded aluminum davit/solar structure incorporates an electric tender winch. The tender package consists of a 2023 GALA A330D aluminum RIB with a 2023 Tohatsu 20 HP four-stroke outboard, which the owner reports to be in normal operating condition.
Additional equipment includes a Fusion Bluetooth entertainment system, multiple televisions, underwater lighting, automatic and manual bilge pumps, 12-person Transocean life raft, ACR 406 MHz EPIRB, LifeSling 2, SOS Danbuoy 33, fixed engine-compartment fire suppression, and a variety of additional cruising and safety equipment.

KAFOFO offers an uncommon combination of private accommodation, substantial electrical capacity, renewable energy generation, storage, outdoor living space, and onboard systems in a 53-foot sailing catamaran. For buyers considering extended cruising, liveaboard use, or a vessel capable of accommodating family and guests without concentrating everyone into the same living spaces, she deserves a closer look.
