MAGGIE is a well-equipped Passport 470 aft cockpit cruiser, a Robert Perry design known for combining handsome proportions, serious passagemaking capability, and the kind of practical offshore layout that continues to appeal to experienced sailors. Currently located in Grenada, she presents as a thoughtfully updated bluewater cruising yacht with the systems, sailhandling, and equipment profile to support extended voyaging rather than just occasional coastal use. The current listing places her in True Blue, Grenada, and identifies her as a 2000 Passport 470 cutter with fiberglass hull construction.
What makes MAGGIE particularly attractive is that she reads like a boat that has been equipped by people who actually cruise. Her cutter rig, skeg-hung rudder, internally ballasted modified fin keel, and ICW-friendly mast height reflect a design aimed at safe, manageable offshore sailing, while her inventory shows meaningful updates in the areas that matter most to a bluewater buyer. She carries a Leisure Furl in-boom furling mainsail with fully battened Quantum main, roller furling genoa and staysail, a Parasailer added in 2015, electric primary winches, a Walder boom brake, and new traveler and mainsheet blocks in 2024. Taken together, that is the sort of sailhandling package that helps make a 47-footer genuinely manageable for a cruising couple.
Below deck, MAGGIE offers the warm, traditional interior finish Passport buyers expect, with teak joinery, teak-and-holly sole, ebony trim accents, and abundant natural ventilation from numerous opening ports and deck hatches. Her two-cabin, two-head layout is well suited to owner cruising with occasional guests, featuring a forward owner’s stateroom with ensuite head and separate stall shower, plus an aft guest cabin with ensuite/day head access. The main saloon also provides secure offshore seating and a proper sea berth arrangement, with a convertible portside dining settee and a full-length starboard settee with lee cloth.
The galley and systems profile reinforce that this is a real passagemaking boat. The U-shaped galley includes Corian countertops, a three-burner Princess propane stove and oven, Seafrost refrigeration and freezer, an Engel portable fridge/freezer, and extensive storage. Mechanically, she is powered by a 63 HP Yanmar with approximately 3,600 hours and fitted with a MaxProp feathering propeller, Vetus bow thruster, dual-zone reverse-cycle air conditioning, and a Spectra Catalina 300 watermaker with updates in 2023. Electrical upgrades are especially strong, including a new Northern Lights 6 kW generator in 2023 with about 240 hours, Victron house batteries and inverter/charger installed in 2022, an AirSilentX wind generator from 2022, and new Victron solar panels added in 2024.
MAGGIE’s navigation and communication equipment also support the bluewater story well. The listing notes Raymarine multifunction displays at both helm and nav station, a Raymarine Evolution autopilot installed in 2017, radar, AIS, forward-looking sonar, and a new Icom VHF in 2023. In 2024, she was also upgraded with Starlink high-speed internet and a DC conversion kit, which is the kind of practical modern addition long-range cruisers increasingly want aboard. Safety and cruising gear include a Plastimo Transocean six-man liferaft, EPIRB, Galerider drogue, multiple bilge pumps, three anchors including a 75 lb Rocna with 200 feet of chain, plus an Achilles tender with Yamaha 15 HP outboard.
For the buyer looking for a proven bluewater cruising yacht with strong pedigree, good tankage, manageable sailhandling, and the right off-grid upgrades already aboard, MAGGIE is a compelling opportunity. She has the equipment profile many buyers hope to find but often do not: modern charging capability, watermaker, generator, bow thruster, updated communications, solid ground tackle, and a layout that remains comfortable and practical whether at anchor or offshore. At 47 feet, with a 14’2” beam, 6’9” draft, 31,500-pound displacement, 160 gallons of fuel, and dual 75-gallon water tanks, she sits in a very usable sweet spot for serious cruising without pushing into a much more complex ownership category.
