Standard Features: The Sense 55 is a fantastic blue-water cruiser with award-winning design, offering everything you could dream of in a yacht. She’s a boat you’ll feel at home on for years to come, providing unparalleled comfort even under sail. Thanks to her wide hull and chine design, she rarely heels more than 22-25 degrees.
Exterior Design: With all cabins positioned forward of the saloon, the Sense 55’s layout is both clever and unusual. This design brings the cockpit closer to the water, giving her a sleek profile.
Interior Design (Nauta Design): The saloon is large and bright, offering fantastic natural light and sea views through the large hull windows. Access from the cockpit is just three steps down! The spacious layout features a longitudinal galley, providing excellent work conditions. The three guest cabins are located forward of the saloon in the bow, including a magnificent master suite at the very front.
For anchoring, the cockpit and easy access to the “beachclub” (the swim platform) are truly unique, providing a true dock/terrace experience at sea level. Perfect for sunny days and providing stunning views from both the saloon and aft. The cockpit also features an electric adjustable table, which can be lowered into a sunbed with cushions.
Canopy/Bimini: The canopy solution and double tables in the cockpit allow multiple guests to sit comfortably, even in rain or chilly weather. It's easy to open and close, protecting the spacious cockpit from both the sun and inclement weather. The canopy can be fully closed with side protection.
Layout:
Cockpit: The Sense 55 has an unusually wide cockpit (497 cm) with dual helm stations/seats that lift up, transforming the space into a massive, unique, terraced “beachclub” close to the water. Large aft lockers are perfect for dive gear, sports equipment, and a liferaft. The cockpit is the largest in its class, featuring two flexible seating areas with a passage between. On the starboard side, there's a large storage compartment and access to the engine room, generator, and technical equipment. On the port side, a dedicated crew/skipper cabin.
Saloon: The saloon is easily accessed with just three steps down. It offers a wide, bright space with a U-shaped sofa on the port side, with an electric table. The central console features a TV that rises electrically and a two-seat sofa that folds up/down in the console. There’s also a clever navigation station with instruments.
Galley: The galley runs along the full length of the saloon on the starboard side, offering plenty of storage for food and drink in smart solutions. It’s a great space to work in, with everything you need within easy reach. There’s a large fridge with both top and front access, a freezer, a stove with an oven and three burners (which can be completely closed when not in use), a microwave, and an integrated dishwasher. The large windows offer excellent views, with wide window sills perfect for additional storage.
Cabins: All three guest cabins are located forward of the saloon. Two identical guest cabins with sliding doors, double beds, and en-suite bathrooms with showers and electric toilets (with septic tanks). Plenty of light and storage. In the bow is the magnificent master cabin with ample wardrobe space, drawers, and abundant natural light. Of course, there’s an en-suite with an electric toilet and septic tank on the starboard side and a separate shower room on the port side. All cabins offer excellent headroom, ample light, and generous storage space. There’s also a dedicated crew/skipper cabin on the port side aft.
Seaworthiness: The Beneteau Sense 55 is a very comfortable sailing yacht with minimal heel. If you want a boat that heels less, you’d need to look at a catamaran. She handles well in the sea and is easy to maneuver with the Dock & Go system. She’s perfectly balanced under sail, providing a smooth and enjoyable experience in all conditions, with impressive speed. She easily sails at 8 knots in 6-8 m/s wind.
Engine & Equipment:
Reliable and powerful Yanmar 4JH4-TE, 75 hp engine with around 2,400 hours
Dock & Go system for easy maneuvering
