This Lagoon 440 targets two distinct customer bases: ocean cruisers with an emphasis on performance and ultra comfort within a controlled budget. A simple glance at the boat is enough to notice its main distinguishing characteristic: a rigid bimini, with an integral helm station. The helm station is located at an ideal central location, with an extra-wide bench seat where guests can join the helmsman and participate in the joys of sailing.
- Innovative Design:The Lagoon 440 introduced several novel features for a catamaran of its size, including a flybridge with a dedicated helm station, a forward cockpit, and a "gull-wing" shaped bridgedeck for smoother passage through waves.
- Enhanced Living Space:The flybridge helm station freed up the aft cockpit for lounging and entertaining. The interior boasted ample headroom and large hull windows, creating bright and airy living spaces with panoramic views from the saloon.
- Comfort and Ergonomics: The spacious aft cockpit, often protected by a hard-top bimini, could comfortably seat a large group. The galley was designed to be practical and well-equipped.
- Ease of Handling: All main controls were led to the flybridge helm, allowing for easy maneuvering even with a reduced crew.Electric winches were often included.
- Cruising Performance:With a generous sail plan and efficient hull design, the Lagoon 440 was known to be surprisingly quick and seaworthy for a cruising catamaran.
- Social Spaces: The forward cockpit provided an additional lounging area at anchor or underway. The saloon and aft cockpit were designed to integrate seamlessly, creating a large social hub.
