COLLEEN is hull #1 of the Cambria 44 series. She is actually the boat featured in Ference Mate’s book The Worlds Best Sailboats. At that time, she had teak decks which have been removed and replaced with a beautiful non-skid deck. The current owner has meticulously restored and upgraded COLLEEN. He has added a beautiful fiberglass hard dodger that is functional and great looking keeping with her beautiful lines that were originally drawn. The windows in the dodger are tempered glass. The beautiful teak interior is in Excellent condition absent any blemishes. I have had the privilege to sail Cambria’s and I have never sailed another boat with a better design for balance even in the toughest conditions. Tacking to windward, one finger on the wheel with a 18knt headwind in a two-to-three-foot chop. “You have to experience it to appreciate it.” I have a video of the thru hulls being operated with one finger through180 degrees. Need I say any more about her constant care and maintenance!
This is a “Special Boat”. Call me to make her your “Special Boat”.
Colleen has a three cabin, two companionway layout conducive to guest and crew comfort and access. The aft cabin has large single berths, starboard and port. The master head and full shower are en suite to starboard. Cabinets and drawers are port and starboard. The navigation station is adjacent to the starboard berth and accessible to the companion way for easy communication with the on-deck crew. The navigation desk pulls out to accept full sized paper charts and has deep storage under.
The main cabin is reached by the passage to port or the separate forward companionway. The galley is to port with the drink cooler and main refrigeration compartment aft. The large, gimbaled four burner stove, oven and broiler has a removable countertop. Next forward is the stand alone freezer compartment. An oversized double sink is on centerline. Hot and cold pressure taps, salt water pressure and a manual fresh water foot pump provide rinse and wash options. Pot and pan and dish storage is found in two large, sliding door cabinets. Baking pan storage is below the stove.
The main salon has a pull out double berth to port, a single settee berth to starboard and fixed sea berth outboard and above to starboard. Cabinets and a bookshelf with removable fiddles are to port. A large, custom drawer toolbox is to starboard and another cabinet above it. The salon table is bright finished teak with double fold down leaves and repositionable fiddles for use at sea. Four opening ports, a large double hung hatch and a smaller overhead hatch provide ventilation.
The forward cabin has a full width V-berth with deep storage under. Shelves and sliding door cabinets are port and starboard above and large clothing and linen cabinets are port and starboard. A deep, lighted hanging locker is to starboard. The head and shower are privately accessible from the forward cabin. A double hung hatch overhead and fans keep the cabin fresh and cool. LED lighting and USB ports are throughout.
