FREEDOM – 2002 Robbins 40' by Mathews Brothers Boats
Introducing FREEDOM, a 2002 Robbins 40’ custom-built by Mathews Brothers — a rare opportunity to own a classically styled, Chesapeake-built downeast cruiser with timeless lines, unmatched craftsmanship, and remarkable condition. The hull was laid in 2001 and the boat was delivered new to her original and only owner in Fall 2002. Since then, she has been lovingly maintained, thoughtfully upgraded, and conveys with a comprehensive set of meticulous maintenance records.
A PROVEN DESIGN WITH YACHT-QUALITY FINISH
The Robbins 40 hull was designed by Edmond J. Robbins, a respected Eastern Shore boatbuilder whose philosophy emphasized stability, speed, and fuel efficiency — ideal for the shifting shoals and choppy waters of the Chesapeake Bay. His semi-displacement hulls became the foundation for many commercial watermen’s boats due to their exceptional ride, shallow draft, and seaworthiness.
What sets FREEDOM apart from typical Bay-built boats is her finish. She was completed by Mathews Brothers Boat Works, known for elevating traditional Chesapeake designs with yacht-quality craftsmanship and refined interior details. The result is a boat that blends rugged workboat DNA with the elegance, comfort, and systems expected by discerning yachtsmen.
Whether you're planning to cruise the coast, fish the Bay, daytrip with friends, or spend the night at anchor, FREEDOM lives up to her name by offering the freedom to do it all — in style.
