    DESCRIPTION:

FIDDLESTICKS is a prime example of a 2007 Fleming 55 that has lived in a time capsule, only venturing south of Maryland once—when Tony Fleming’s captain brought her around from the Pacific Northwest shortly after delivery in 2007. Since then, this one owner boat, has enjoyed a charmed life cruising exclusively in New England and storing ashore in New Jersey each winter. Her sole owner is amongst the most technically minded and detail-oriented, which is evident in every aspect—mechanically and cosmetically.

Cosmetically, the exterior presents far newer than her model year, thanks to excellent care and attention to detail. The gelcoat gleams, the bottom is maintained regularly, the teak decks are in outstanding condition, and the bimini with full hard enclosure looks nearly new. This pristine presentation is due in part to a custom mooring cover and bow cover that protect the Portuguese bridge and foredeck year-round.

The interior fabrics and original electronics are all in great condition and remain fully operational, a testament to both quality and meticulous upkeep. A desirable Steelhead electric hydraulic davit makes launching the tender as easy as pressing a button.

Mechanically, FIDDLESTICKS has benefited from an extremely capable and diligent owner who ensure every system operates as designed and that all maintenance intervals are rigorously followed. Her twin Cummins QSC8.3 engines, producing 500hp each, are the preferred powerplants still offered in new Fleming 55s today. Coupled with the bulletproof Aquadrive thrust bearing and rubber-mounted engine mounts, the result is one of the smoothest and quietest cruising experiences available in a motor yacht.

FIDDLESTICKS is also equipped with a 17kW and a 9kW Onan generator, a Village Marine watermaker, oversized ABT active fin stabilizers, and SidePower bow and stern thrusters—rounding out an exceptionally outfitted and lovingly maintained Fleming 55.

    SALON

Entering from the aft cockpit deck, you are immediately welcomed into a capacious and elegantly appointed salon. Rich satin-finished teak cabinetry exudes timeless appeal, while surrounding opening windows bathe the space in natural light and fresh air. The interior layout thoughtfully balances form and function, seamlessly connecting the salon and galley to create an open, social environment—yet smartly maintaining the separation of the galley from the dedicated pilothouse for operational ease.

With a generous 16’ beam, the open floor plan offers both volume and comfort, making entertaining guests aboard FIDDLESTICKS a truly effortless experience.

To port, a large L-shaped settee invites conversation and relaxation, anchored aft by a built-in bar complete with an ice maker—perfect for cocktail hour. To starboard, a full-length credenza provides abundant storage, beautifully complementing the additional stowage found beneath the port-side settee. In the starboard aft corner, an entertainment center is neatly housed within a cabinet and features an LCD TV on a retractable hydraulic lift, along with AV equipment, all tucked away when not in use to preserve the clean, classic aesthetic.

    GALLEY

The galley is smartly positioned to port, just forward of the salon, and is separated by a large granite peninsula countertop and overhead teak cabinets—complete with a convenient dumbwaiter to the flybridge, making provisioning and entertaining across decks effortless.

Designed in a functional U-shape, the galley is equipped for serious onboard cooking. It features a stainless-steel double-bowl sink, a three-burner induction cooktop with custom pot holders, and a convection microwave oven overhead. A built-in trash compactor adds to the practical functionality. Generous teak cabinetry provides excellent storage, including a dedicated compartment forward of the cooktop designed to accommodate a full range of cookware.

To starboard, directly opposite the galley, you’ll find a teak-paneled full-size refrigerator with bottom freezer, flanked by a dish storage cabinet and additional drawers—ensuring that both dry goods and dinnerware have dedicated, easily accessible spaces.

    ACCOMMODATIONS

Descending five gently sloped and well-lit steps from the salon brings you to the central accommodations passage, a hallmark of the traditional Fleming 55 layout. This time-tested configuration offers excellent traffic flow and accessibility throughout the lower deck, allowing you to appreciate the full length of the vessel—from the forepeak bulkhead to the transom.

To starboard, you'll find a guest stateroom with a twin bunk arrangement, ideal for children or additional guests. The upper bunk slides outward to create a wider berth or retracts to increase headroom when only the lower bunk is in use. Storage is provided via built-in drawers, and hanging locker.

Opposite, to port, is the spacious VIP guest stateroom, featuring a queen-sized berth with an overhead slide-out bunk to outboard—perfect for flexible sleeping arrangements. Additional amenities include a built-in credenza/desk inboard, a large hanging locker, dresser storage at the foot of the berth, a mirrored vanity, integrated shelving for added convenience, anchor alarm buzzer and a DC powered fan designed to fit in a porthole to draw in fresh air.

Forward along the passageway, just ahead of the starboard guest stateroom, is a dedicated laundry area with a full-sized Bosch 220V washer and separate dryer—a luxury rarely found in vessels of this size. Adjacent is the guest/day head, appointed with a molded fiberglass shower stall, granite countertops, Headhunter electric flush toilet, and Hansgrohe thermostatically controlled fixtures.

At the forward end of the accommodations is the luxurious master stateroom, located in the bow. Centered within is a custom Handcraft queen-sized island berth, accessible from both sides via teak steps. Gas-assisted struts lift the berth to reveal a large under-bed storage compartment—ideal for linens, luggage, or valuables. Flanking the berth are his-and-hers hanging lockers, additional cabinetry, shelves, and drawer storage, creating a truly livable master suite.

Unlike many forward berths, Fleming’s hull design—without reversed chines—eliminates the common lapping noise that can disturb sleep in the bow. Natural light and ventilation flow from twin overhead skylights and portholes to either side, enhancing the airy, peaceful ambiance. To port and aft is the private en-suite master head, with finishes matching the guest head: a spacious molded shower, granite countertop, premium fixtures, and an electric flush toilet. Facing the berth on the starboard side is a wall-mounted 23” Toshiba flat-screen TV and an RD-30 to port, completing the owner’s retreat.

    PILOTHOUSE

In an era where many modern yachts have eliminated interior helm stations in favor of flybridge-only operation, the Fleming 55 remains true to its offshore cruising heritage with a dedicated pilothouse—a design choice that reflects the influence of much larger passage making vessels. This purposeful space serves as the primary command center of the yacht, allowing for uninterrupted vessel operation regardless of activity elsewhere on board.

Just three steps up from the salon and galley and four interior steps down from the flybridge, the pilothouse is easily accessed yet smartly separated—offering privacy, focus, and superior functionality.

Visibility is outstanding, with expansive forward windshields and large side windows that wrap around both port and starboard. The well-laid-out helm console beneath the windshield provides ample space for a full suite of modern navigation electronics, while still allowing clean segregation of essential engine instrumentation. Overhead consoles offer additional space for equipment, placing frequently used controls and systems within easy reach of the helmsman.

To either side of the helm, swing-open AC and DC breaker panels grant complete access to the yacht’s electrical systems—designed for easy serviceability and clear organization. To starboard, a dedicated charting station features large drawers for charts, cruising guides, binoculars, and other navigational essentials—an increasingly rare but highly valued feature among serious cruisers.

Sliding doors to port and starboard lead directly out to the Portuguese bridge decks, enabling safe and immediate exterior access for docking, line handling, or deck checks while underway.

A raised L-shaped settee and teak table to port and aft provides a comfortable and elevated seating area with excellent forward visibility—ideal for guests who want to enjoy the view without interfering with navigation. To starboard and aft, ample storage cabinets and drawers are joined by a wet locker, perfect for storing foul-weather gear within arm’s reach.

Commanding the helm is a stainless-steel destroyer wheel trimmed in teak, paired with a luxurious STIDD High Back helm chair featuring electric up/down and fore/aft controls. Together, they complete a pilothouse designed for comfort, safety, and total confidence at sea—underscoring the Fleming 55’s identity as a true bluewater cruising yacht.

    FLYBRIDGE

The flybridge is easily accessed via interior steps from the pilothouse or by a ladder from the cockpit. It features a two-seat upper helm station to port, offering exceptional 360-degree visibility—especially valuable when maneuvering in close quarters. The optional teak decks are in wonderful condition due to the protection of the bimini and provide a much preferred and comfortable platform vs. non-skid gelcoat panels.

The electronics console is generously sized to accommodate a full suite of navigation and communication equipment. Convenient access to the rear of the console is provided by a hinged bookshelf located behind the pilothouse settee below.

To starboard, a U-shaped settee with a molded fiberglass table offers a comfortable space for relaxing or entertaining. Aft of the helm on the port side, there’s an additional settee as well as the hatch for galley dumbwaiter access.

The aft boat deck is equipped with a Steelhead low-profile 800 lb electric-hydraulic davit, a hard-shelled 6-person life raft, and an 11’ RIB tender powered by a 40hp Yamaha. The hatch and step ladder to the cockpit are located aft to port.

Overhead, a classic green bimini with full enclosure pays homage to Tony Fleming’s original design intent, providing both protection and timeless style.

    DECK & CONTRUCTION

In true Fleming tradition, the hull is hand-laid solid fiberglass, reinforced with a robust grid of stringers and frames for superior strength and durability. Below the waterline, vinylester resin is used for enhanced resistance to water intrusion, with added protection from epoxy barrier coats. A moderate five-foot draft makes this vessel ideal for Bahamas cruising, while the full-length keel—foam-filled and glassed over to isolate it from the hull—provides nearly a foot of protection beneath the running gear, enhancing both performance and safety.

On deck, wide walk-around side decks, high bulwarks, and a Portuguese bridge ensure secure footing and added safety—particularly important for families with children or pets. The decks are finished in natural teak (and in excellent condition), complemented by varnished teak cap rails, trim, and coaming boards for a timeless and elegant appearance.

The cockpit includes a control station conveniently located to starboard of the salon doors, with additional storage to port behind the ladder leading to the flybridge that house three comfortable director style chairs. Four gasketed hatches in the cockpit sole offer direct access to the engine room and spacious lazarette. A large transom door swings inward, providing safe and easy access to the swim platform. In addition to the factory supplied self deploying swim ladder under the platform, there is a removeable custom swim/dive ladder that mounts between staples.

Moving forward along the side decks, entry gates are located on both sides of the cockpit, offering a lower point of entry close to the waterline—ideal for boarding from floating docks. At the bow, you’ll find a teak foredeck framed by varnished teak handrails. Special attention has been given to the anchoring system, ensuring both safety and ease of operation. The heavy-duty anchor platform accommodates two anchors, with the primary controlled by a handheld unit at the bow, or from both the pilothouse and flybridge helm stations.

A spacious anchor locker beneath the pulpit provides convenient storage for fenders, while four large lockers built into the Portuguese bridge offer additional space for dock lines, windshield covers, and cleaning gear—keeping everything you need close at hand, yet neatly out of sight.

    MECHANICAL

Superior systems engineering is a hallmark of Fleming Yachts. True to their core philosophy, only the highest-quality equipment is selected—prioritizing not just performance but also ease of access for routine maintenance and long-term reliability.

Primary access to the engine room is provided via two exterior hatches just aft of the salon doors. Engine air intake is ingeniously routed through vents beneath the cockpit coaming boards, channeling air through the lazarette before reaching the engines. This design prevents direct exposure of mechanical components to salt and seawater, significantly enhancing longevity and reliability.

To achieve the remarkably low levels of noise and vibration that Flemings are renowned for, the propulsion system utilizes Aquadrive thrust bearings, which transfer engine thrust directly to the hull structure. This allows the engines to be soft-mounted, further isolating vibration and reducing sound transmission throughout the vessel.

Located aft of the engine room, the lazarette is intelligently arranged to house key systems such as the water tanks, steering gear, and air conditioning compressors—while still offering generous space for stowing cruising essentials like deck chairs, spare anchors, lines, fenders, and spare parts. Placing the air conditioning compressors in the cooler, well-ventilated lazarette—rather than the engine room—enhances their efficiency and performance while helping to maintain a quieter onboard environment.
