"SEA SUITE", hull #8 was launched in 2015 and the last of the Hinckley DS 42's built. She is a one-owner boat and has been very lightly sailed in Maine waters since new. Impeccably maintained, she is in outstanding condition. Always stored inside during the winters and with cockpit cover installed during summers. With her fixed fin keel, and spade rudder, she sails extremely well (better than her lifting keel sisterships) and her custom carbon fiber mast and GMT in-boom push button mainsail furling system makes hoisting the mainsail a cinch. Her captive reel mainsheet winch is cleverly installed below the cockpit and makes tending the sheet (in and out) a push-button affair. With her high gloss varnished teak cockpit back rests, combings, dining table and winch pods she rivals even the most luxurious of sailing yachts. "SEA SUITE" is in the water until late October, 2025 and available by appointment for viewings. Considered by many to be the QUEEN of the modern daysailer age, this 2015 Hinckley daysailer is a yacht that is as much fun to sail as she is to just look at!
DESIGN GOALS"SEA SUITE" was built with simplicity in mind. Every effort was made to redefine "ease of sail-handling" with both her mainsail and roller-furling headsail. Not only is her mainsail in-boom furling, but the controls for hoisting and dropping the sail are via buttons on the cockpit seatback. Her main sheet is led to a captive reel winch under the cockpit, allowing the helmsman complete access to sheeting in and out via toe switches on the teak cockpit sole. All controls and electronics are easily accessible to the helmsman, allowing 6 guests to just sit back in the palatial cockpit and enjoy the ride.
Designed by renowned naval architect Bruce King, the lines of the DS42 are breathtaking. The curvature of her cockpit, overhangs at the bow and stern, custom stainless steel closed chocks make the DS42 stand out from other high caliber yachts. CONSTRUCTIONLike all modern Hinckley's the DS 42 was built using the DualGuard construction process. A composite construction technique blending outer laminates of Kevlar and Eglass, balsa cores and inner layers of carbon fiber all vacuum bagged and resin-infused to create a hull of incredible strength, stiffness and impact resistance.
