Hull Construction

STRENGTH AND PERFORMANCE

The hull of the Hylas H57 is constructed utilizing e-glass fiberglass laminates with an Airex closed cell foam core vacuum infused with a precise resin-to-fiber ratio to produce a hull with superior strength, stiffness, and performance.

  • Solid multiaxial fiberglass laminate with substantial structural reinforcement and backing plates supporting the main V1 and D1 chainplates.
  • Hylas Signature watertight bow and stern sections. The full-beam lazarette and stern locker is segmented and sealed. At the same time, at the bow, forward of the VIP cabin, the bulkhead is structurally reinforced and sealed for added protection in a collision and safety at sea.
  • Limber holes are installed throughout the hull to promote proper drainage to the bilge sump.
  • All thru-hulls, sea-cocks, and valves below the waterline are high-quality solid bronze Groco fittings integrated with the yachts bonding system.
  • Five coats of Epoxy barrier coating finished with a two-part Epoxy Tie-Coat, ensuring enhanced protection against osmosis and a superior bond between the anticorrosive and antifouling layers.
  • The base model is a white hull with an isophthalic gelcoat and vinyl-ester resin for added protection against osmosis. Other hull colors are available with Alexseal or Awlcraft 2000 by Awlgrip as an additional option.
  • Painted cove stripe available in Flag Blue, Whisper Gray, Snow White, or other custom colors
  • Painted boot stripe available in Flag Blue, Whisper Gray, Snow White, or other custom colors
  • Three coats of Micron Extra 2 bottom paint
  • Twelve flush-mounted, oversized hull portlights for bright natural lighting and seascape views throughout the interior, four in the master stateroom, one in the master head, one in the galley, four in the Salon, and two in the forward VIP cabin.
  • A full spectrum inspection and analysis is performed on the finished hull to verify strict quality control and Hylas standards.
  • Five-year hull and deck warranty against structural issues and osmotic blistering.

Custom hull paint, cove stripe, and boot stripe are available.

On Deck

A MODERN CENTER COCKPIT

The deck of the Hylas H57 is constructed of hand-laid e-glass fiberglass laminate, Airex closed-cell foam core, and vinyl-ester resins. Reinforced carbon structural elements are incorporated into the deck for additional strength and stiffness. In areas of high stress, such as around the mast, at the base of the winches, deck hardware, and anywhere deck fittings penetrate the deck, the core is replaced with solid single-skin laminate. The deck is finished with a white isophthalic gelcoat.

The hull-to-deck joint is constructed with a substantial inboard recessed flange reinforced with solid multiaxial fiberglass laminate chemically bonded with a high-performance 5200 adhesive and then further laminated over the inner and outer skin to form a single monolithic structure.

  • Molded fiberglass cap rail with raised bulwark
  • Fiberglass non-skid deck available in Gray, Linen Beige, or White
  • Hylas Signature 316L grade polished stainless steel stemhead fitting with integrated bowsprit, two self-launching anchor receivers, substantial bow protection, and striker plates.
  • Eight 12" Nomen 300 folding deck cleats with substantial backing plates and solid laminate in the deck. Two bow cleats, four mid-ship spring cleats, and two stern cleats.
  • 32" high 1 1/4" diameter 316L stainless steel stanchions with double Dyneema lifelines and boarding gates port and starboard.
  • Stainless steel handrails located on the foredeck and the full length of the coach roof
  • Side-boarding fold-down stainless steel ladder with teak steps and mounting sockets at the port and starboard mid-ship gates. Folds up and secures within the mid-ship gate enabling the ladder to remain in place while sailing.

Options include custom pulpit and pushpit railing extensions to the midship gate and first bow stanchion, integrated quarter and bow seats, and Simpson S300 Series 10 stainless steel davits.

Hatches and Deck Lockers

  • Forepeak deck locker located forward of the collision bulkhead with a segmented chain and rode compartment for the primary and secondary ground tackle and a separate sail locker and storage for fenders and dock lines. Stainless steel access ladder, direct overboard drainage, and high bilge alarm.
