CONSTRUCTION

The Italia 15.98 is a versatile, mid-range yacht available in either a 2-cabin owner version, standard 3-cabin, or 4-cabin family configuration. Designed to ensure performance while preserving the space and comfort desired for long-distance passage making or liveaboard cruising. On a quiet Caribbean mooring, or leading the pack on the racecourse, the Italia 15.98 is in its element.

This combination of solid and cored construction ensures a stable and stiff hull for serious offshore sailing while also reducing the weight of the yacht, enabling excellent light wind performance. In areas of high loads, such as deck fittings and rigging components, reinforced backing plates are integrated into the laminate.

Along the centerline, the hull is solid laminate. The structural grid built of carbon fiber and fiberglass, as well as the bulkheads, are bonded and laminated to the hull to create a single monolithic structure resulting in a stable, stiff, and responsive hull.

DECK LAYOUT

The deck configuration is top of its class, with a bountiful area for sunbathing on the coach roof, length to stretch out and lounge in the cockpit, and the ability to enjoy water activities from the swim platform that lowers right to the water level. Clean and uncluttered, every line is neatly organized and led out of sight, emerging only at the winches. The mainsail traveler, deck hatches, portlights, and cleats are all flush-mounted. Storage is impressive aboard the Italia 15.98. On deck, five lockers provide plenty of room for equipment and gear including a segmented sail and anchor locker at the bow, deep cockpit lockers, and a dedicated life raft stowage locker.

EASY AND ENJOYABLE TO SAIL

Perfect for cruising, yet capable of delivering a podium finish, the Italia 15.98 is a very versatile boat. The long waterline ensures speed while the deep keel and rudder pair together to provide exceptional stability, an excellent righting moment, and agile performance for fingertip sailing. The sail controls are sensibly configured, making the boat easy to manage with minimal crew, ensuring a fun and relaxing time on the water with the family.

MAST AND RIGGING

The high-performance fractional rig includes a silver anodized tapered aluminum mast by John Mast with double swept-back spreaders, boom with two double reefing lines and internal outhaul, and a telescoping vang. As an option, the mast and boom are available in carbon fiber. The standing rigging is high quality, discontinuous Navtec rod rigging, and turnbuckles. The V1 chainplate is located outboard at the sheerline while the D1 is placed on the coach roof to ensure unrestricted movement along the side deck. Performance roller bearing blocks and shackles, hydraulic backstay, pad eyes for the gennaker, under deck mounted jib furler, and Dyneema running rigging all come standard.

INTERIOR DESIGN

True to the semi-custom nature of Italia Yachts, each owner has the latitude to tailor their yacht to custom specifications, but the result is always Italia Yachts quality. The styling of the Italia 15.98 is impeccable. Exquisite detail and a level of thought and consideration expected on only the most exclusive of yachts is commonplace throughout. Hand-stitched Italian leather adorns the sculpted stainless steel handrails. The teak joinery is modern, yet handcrafted in a way that beckons tradition, and the grains are all matched for luxurious, pleasing aesthetics. For many, the owner's stateroom is an area of great emphasis and central to their vision of how they will utilize their yacht. Both forward and aft owner staterooms are possible on the Italia

15.98. The aft version offers the most significant amount of space and is a popular choice for many who are accustomed to center cockpit yachts. The forward version ensures the most privacy as well as several different berth configurations; centerline and offset. Storage is spectacular with numerous cabinets, drawers, and tall hanging lockers customized to the needs of the owners.

The Italia 15.98 has the option for two, three, or four guest cabins. The standard option includes two symmetrical double cabins aft. Another option consists of a bunk cabin offset to port, forward of the main salon. Depending upon the owner's specifications, the guest accommodations can be maximized to enable a larger number of guests for charter potential or kept more limited to offer extra space in the owner's quarters and other areas of the yacht. Depending on the bow configuration, the forepeak can accommodate either crew quarters or a large sail locker.

The warm and welcoming main salon is spacious and airy with two overhead deck hatches, seven opening portlights, and a smoked Lexan main hatch with retractable washboard, which ensures delightful views and a welcoming breeze. The dinette, located to port, has a u-shaped settee and inboard seating for eight around the beautifully sculpted teak table. Several options are available to starboard - one, with a passageway galley and a double settee. Or, opting for the larger island style configuration moves the galley further forward, enabling a single lounge. Both options have a navigation desk forward on the starboard side.

With either the passageway or island-style galley, the equipment and functionality are superb with top and front-loading cold storage, an abundance of cabinetry and drawers, room for cookery items, galley ware, and provisions, a gimbaled stove with oven, double basin sink, and lots of counter space for food preparation and entertainment - ideal for preparing a pleasant meal in even the most remote locations or hosting guests.

Depending on the layout, there are two or three heads can be configured. Options for ensuite and day head access are possible as well as solutions for both separate stall and combination showers. All heads feature molded fiberglass floors embellished with teak grates and accessories of the highest quality and elegance.
