Naval architect Bob Johnson founded Island Packet in 1979 when he purchased molds for the Bombay Express a 26’ cruising sailboat from the Bombay Trading Company when they went out of business. Bob Johnson made changes to the interior layout, sailplan and underbody.

Over 2200 Island Packets have been built and are best known for their modern interpretation of a traditional full keel, shallow draft, roomy accommodations and seaworthy build. Island Packets have won many awards including seven in Cruising World magazine for “Boat of the Year” and three in Sail magazine for “Best Boat”.
